Chamber delegation seeks to strengthen business ties with Mexico

Tijuana Mayor Ismael Burgue o speaks during the press conference Image from live feed San Diego business and political leaders sought to strengthen the economic relationship with their Mexican counterparts Monday during the Regional Chamber of Commerce s th annual cross-border deal mission The delegation includes more than people from both San Diego and Baja California including the mayors of multiple cities and Mexican economic expansion specialists The shared prosperity of San Diego and Tijuana depends upon collaboration We are two cities but one interconnected region linked by family way of life and commerce reported San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria in a video press conference from Mexico City His counterpart Ismael Burgue o from Tijuana echoed that saying Our objectives are clear to reinforce our institutional presence before executives and organizations on both sides of the boundary to promote infrastructure and regional evolution projects and to solidify our strategic relationship with the private sector of our neighboring country Gloria explained he views the mission as an opportunity to advocate for agreement strategy that benefits our businesses as well as to press for additional substantive action to address the Tijuana River Valley sewage emergency The contract mission began Sunday and continues through Wednesday The group will meet with Mexican leaders and leadership agents to strengthen economic ties and explore collaboration opportunities These conversations in Mexico City give us the chance to directly advocate for the priorities that matter most of to our region s businesses and families When we show up as a united binational delegation it underscores the unique role our region plays in driving prosperity and opportunity across Cali-Baja stated Chris Cate president and CEO of the chamber
